Grant funds will be used to launch a pilot program to provide nutritionally appropriate meals to people undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Specific menus will be created taking into consideration the nutritional requirements of clients receiving radiation or chemotherapies. Participants in the pilot program will receive the equivalent of three meals a day, though portions may be designed to provide smaller amounts of food to be eaten more often throughout the day. Meals will be delivered to clients’ homes, free of charge, by Open Arms’ volunteers. In addition to providing nutritious meals for clients with breast cancer, Open Arms will also provide meals for their affected partners, caregivers and children.
Tracy Area Medical Services
The title of the project is Educational Assistance for Women of Hmong Ethnicity in areas of Breast Health and Breast Cancer Awareness
Grant Award: $10,000.00
This program for women of the Hmong community will stress the need for healthcare centered on the prevention of, and/or treatment of breast cancer. With cancer the leading cause of death among women of Asian ethnicity, and records showing almost no participation in breast health initiatives locally, the need for educational programs in this area was seen. With the assistance of Hmong community leaders and facilitated by the TAMS Social Services Department and Medical Providers, programs covering the need for over-all breast health centered on regular checkups and mammograms will be offered.
Twin Cities Public Television
The title of the project is Partnership for Breast Cancer Awareness
Grant Award: $88,816.00

Through utilization of TPT’s production and broadcast services and UCare’s significant network of healthcare providers, the Partnership for Breast Cancer Awareness will reach those populations most in need of breast cancer education.
